Pakistan Supreme Court’s ‘historic’ ruling

​Asia Bibi, who has been acquitted by the Supreme court of Pakistan after ​9​ years of injustice in prison is being held at an undisclosed location for security reasons and is expected to leave the country. This is what Asylum was made for, not for ​​invaders.

Anticipating such a ruling, a hardline Islamist party, Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP), held countrywide protests. In response, protests have already erupted in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, among other cities. The TLP is the more moderate side of Sunni Muslims in Pakistan, but they are more zealous than any other Islamic sect. The TLP is “a staunch supporter of the blasphemy law and openly justifies violence to safeguard what they call the honor of the prophet.

TLP patron Pir Afzal Qadri told a public gathering the day the Supreme Court was reading Bibi’s case, “Even the state should kill him (Chief Justice) because he has become an apostate by releasing her. Earlier, based on my fatwah, Iqbal Bhatti [a high court judge who had released two Christians in 1997 in a frivolous blasphemy charge] was killed by a lion, Ahmed Sher Niazi. Now I give the same fatwah for these Supreme Court judges.”

Governor Salman Taseer and Christian Minister Shehbaz Bhatti were also killed by extremists Muslims. Now they want to kill Supreme Court judges.

Also a renowned cleric Maulana Yousaf Qureshi put a $5,000 bounty on Bibi’s head while the Pakistani state couldn’t charge him. Governor Salman Taseer was gunned down by his own security guard “Mumtaz Qadri” in January 2011. After killing Governor Taseer, Qadri became a hero of the anti-blasphemy lobby. After his death, he was given the burial of a saint in his village near Islamabad. A mausoleum has since been built over his grave where devotees flock to pray and make offerings.

The complainant in the Asia Bibi case, Qari Muhammad Salaam, a extremists muslim (member of TLP) has filed a review petition today through his counsel, Ghulam Mustafa, against the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Asia’s conviction in the blasphemy case.

But The federal government does not plan to “put Asia Bibi’s name on the exit control list (ECL) or [file an] appeal for a review against the apex court’s verdict”.

It says 62 people have been killed for blasphemy since 1990 “even before their trial could be conducted in accordance with the law”, and mentions the lynching of Mashal Khan at Mardan University as the latest example. Asia Bibi, who was the first woman to be sentenced to death for blasphemy in Pakistan, has remained in solitary confinement for the past nine years. On 7 October, Ashiq Masih, Bibi’s husband, rejected reports that his wife was suffering from dementia and said she was “spiritually strong” and “ready and willing to die for Christ”. In February, Pope Francis met Ashiq at the Vatican, and Pakistan’s small Christian minority held fasts and prayer sessions before the verdict.

In a separate 21-page note penned by Justice Khosa, he quotes from what is known as St Katherine’s Covenant to establish how the Prophet guaranteed protection to Christians in the Islamic state. Justice Khosa runs a greater risk than Chief Justice Nisar. He headed the bench which in 2015 upheld the death sentence of Mumtaz Qadri, the self-confessed killer of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer. Qadri was hanged in February 2016.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar said nobody can tolerate blasphemy of the Prophet (PBUH) and “We are ready to sacrifice our lives for him. But, how can we punish someone when there is no ground to build a case against them”.

The chief justice said “nobody is less devout than others. We are not only the judges of Muslims. He also read from the Hadith “Beware! Whoever is cruel and hard on a non-Muslim minority, or curtails their rights, or burdens them with more than they can bear, or takes anything from them against their free will; I (Prophet Muhammad) will complain against the person on the Day of Judgment.” (Abu Dawud)

Around the world muslims want freedom of speech, they criticize other religions, but they do not allow others to criticize on their religion. Pakistani Christians are suffering persecution from a long time, their homes have been burnt, Christians have been burnt alive, tortured and raped by extremists muslims. Even if Christians do not speak against Islam, Muslims accuse them if they do not like any Christian, or if they have any type of fight, or want to control the property of Christians. By accusing Christians, its easy for them to kill Christians and no one will question.

Asia Bibi was in Jail since 9 years, even though she didn’t do blasphemy against Islam or the prophet of Islam, she was in jail to make the extremist Muslims happy. They wanted to hang Asia, but they didn’t because of a International image of Islam and Pakistan. The Pakistani government and Judicial didn’t hang Asia Bibi. Chief Justice said “If she was guilty” they were going to hang her, but because she didn’t speak any thing against the Prophet of Islam, she should be free. Again the Extremists Muslims started a protest, burned cars, motor bikes, killed people, blocked the roads and threatened the Prime Minister, Chief Justice and Pakistani Army Chief. They even manipulating and persuading other Muslim generals to take action against the Army Chief. The government of Pakistan after freeing Asia Bibi, again accepted extremists Muslims appeal and put her name in the ECL list that she cant leave Pakistan and case will be reviewed again.

The Christian areas and village of Faroqa Abad in Pakistan is being threatened tonight as angry Muslims have announced over the loudspeaker of their mosque that they will burn the Christian homes to the ground. This is in the wake of shocking news today in Pakistan that Asia Bibi is to be released following the overturn of her conviction.
